London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games is getting closer and the volunteers selected to be Games Makers have been announced. Games Makers will be pivotal to the success of the games as the people who have been selected will be the 'face of London 2012'.
We are delighted to announce that a number of SPS graduates have been chosen to be Games Makers. We will be following their journey over the coming months and during the games to get an insight into their experience.

2 - Further qualifications information
Whichever massage course you completed - (University Certificate of Advanced Professional Development or SPS Diploma), you are now able to advance your qualification by embarking on a further course of education. This next programme will result in the award of Certificate in Higher Education (Cert HE) - Massage in a Sports Environment.
The Cert HE course consists of one 60 credit module that is awarded by Teesside University (University code PHY1014-N)
The course is delivered in a number of venues around the country and normally runs alongside the academic year. The mode of delivery is 7 weekends spread over approximately a 9 month period. Successful completion of the module results in the award Certificate of Higher Education (CertHE) Massage in a Sports Environment.
The programme builds on the SPS Diploma in Sports Massage and the University Certificate of Advanced Professional Development (UCAPD). Either the SPS Diploma or the UCAPD is a prerequisite to atending this module. The module explores more advanced soft tissue techniques including Specific Stretch/STR, Trigger Point Therapy and Myofascial Techniques and in addition includes experience of a professional working environment during a practice placement. This programme of education has been mapped to National Occupational Standards (NOS)

6 - Register on the Find a Practitioner database
If you are a SPS graduate and would like your details entered into the Find a Practitioner section of the web-site, please complete the short form on the Add Yourself to the Pracitioner List page and we will include your details once we have verified your qualification status. This means that people looking for a sports massage therapist will be able to view your details and contact you directly.
As a qualified practitioner, it will be important that you understand Scope of Profession and develop your own Scope of Practice. To assist you in doing this, we have defined Scope of Profession.
